The actual game is largely said to be French in origin and in french the term Roulette means "small wheel". The European version of the game with a single zero is known as French Roulette, sometimes. The most likely origin of the game seems to be definitely French, though some roots can also be traced to the UK and its future as it has turned out is now in the U.S.

Gregory Faris and Tyler Manning were best of friends but in course of a game of Russian Roulette, Faris was shot by his friend. Investigators say that Faris of Villa Hills, died at his friend's Crescent Springs Apartment at about 2.00 a.m. on Sunday, when the two were playing with a loaded .38-caliber revolver. Crescent Spring police have refused to detail what precipitated the single gunshot wound to the neck that killed Faris. Easterling called it a game of Russian Roulette, although that lethal gun game requires players to fire at their own heads.
